About Lindy Irwin PMA®-CPT, RN

Lindy is an extremely committed and passionate Pilates professional. She has been practicing classical Pilates in her own body for over 20 years and has been teaching since 2002.She grew up in Saint Petersburg, FL where she studied classical ballet starting at the age of three. As she got older, she attended various summer ballet intensive training programs throughout the country where she was exposed to Pilates as supplemental conditioning for dance training. She turned to Pilates as her main focus to heal her severe Achilles tendonitis and inflammation in her body from rigorous ballet training. Lindy earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ballet from Texas Christian University, where Pilates was an integral part of the dance program. She earned her classical comprehensive certification in the PilateSystem® from Colleen Glenn in 2002 in Dallas, TX.She taught in various Pilates studios in the greater Dallas area over the next decade. Lindy has over 1,500 hours of comprehensive classical Pilates instructor education. She has done the majority of her teacher training at The Pilates Center in Boulder,CO, which is one of the oldest and most comprehensive teacher training programs in the country. It is often referred to as “The Harvard of Pilates.” There she studied directly under Amy Taylor Alpers and Rachel Taylor Segel and their senior instructors. She completed the Master’s Program in 2007 and The Advanced Teacher Training Bridge Program in 2013. Lindy completed The Classical Syllabus Continuing Education in 2019 by international renowned teacher, MeJo Wiggin, and continues to study with MeJo. Lindy holds the Pilates Method Alliance Certification Credential.

Lindy graduated with honors from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010. She went on to practice as a Registered Nurse in vascular surgery where she saw the devastating ill effects of disease that pervades a large portion of the population. This experience enhanced Lindy’s commitment to helping people reap the physiological benefits of Pilates as it pertains to preventive health and quality of life.  

Lindy recently fulfilled a long awaited dream of opening her own studio, Authentic Pilates of Austin, in January of 2018. Her teaching mission is to help heal and empower people to greater health for a peaceful, centered, and joyful life. Aside from Pilates, her greatest passion and joy in life is her sweet little boy!
